Honeywell has long been a leader in the field of vehicle-mount computing and the Thor VM2 continues to build on the success and innovation of the best-in-class Thor VM1. The VM1 was designed to address the challenges of supply chain applications and the VM2 expands on that through a larger screen - a 9.7" XGA display (1024x768) vs. the VM1s 8" WVGA (800x480). One of the main benefits of this larger screen is that it simplifies application development and system integration; unfortunately, there is no outdoor or defroster option for the VM2. The processor, memory, operating system options, WLAN and WWAN features are essentially the same between these two vehicle mount computers. Three key features of the VM2 are the smart dock, field-replaceable front panel and ignition control.

The Smart Dock feature allows you to easily separate the computer from the power supply for seamless migration from vehicle to vehicle with minimal down time. Mounting and removals can be done in seconds 1/6th of the time required for mounting and removal of competitors' models.

The front panel features a touchscreen and keyboard integrated into a single easily replaceable part should the front panel become damaged in the field, it can easily replaced on-site with a single tool, minimizing both maintenance costs and downtime.

The ignition control feature and power management settings virtually eliminate dead vehicle batteries and the productivity losses that can occur as a result. You can configure the VM2 automatically to into standby or hibernate mode at a selectable time after the ignition is turned off.
